How to Master Air Purification for the Home

While it’s great to get outside during the summertime and have fun in the beautiful weather, it’s also refreshing to come inside and enjoy the AC. Many people spend a significant amount of time in their homes, but no one wants to come home to stale, stagnant air. Often we try to cover up any smells with air fresheners, but that does not improve your indoor air quality. To learn more about air purification for the home, here are some techniques you can implement.

1. Plants

Plants are considered one of the best to use for air purification for the home. You should place an indoor plant in every room of your home. Consider plants like the spider plant, fiddle leaf fig tree, and dracaena. If you don’t know much about how to maintain or develop a green thumb, now is the time to learn.

2. Air Purifier

An air purifier is an obvious benefit to any home, but many people skip over this device because they don’t want to spend the money. However, you can find a quality smaller air purifier for as low as 50 dollars. Consider placing one of these in your bedroom while you are sleeping.

3. Open the Windows

Even though the air outside can get really hot during the summer months, an open window is an integral part of practicing air purification for the home. You only need to open the windows for 15 minutes every day. If you don’t open the windows, air won’t properly circulate throughout the space. To forgo the discomfort of heat and an open window, wait until the evenings to do this.

4. Cleaning Products

Do your best to use natural, organic household cleaners. You can even make your own out of natural products like lemons, vinegar, and baking soda. Each time you spray a cleaning product on a surface, the chemicals get all over the place. Sure, you might wipe the surfaces and clean them. However, you don’t want those toxic chemicals floating through the air. If you must use chemical cleaning products, always keep a window open while you’re using them.

5. Hardwood Flooring

This isn’t the most inexpensive tip to consider, but it’ll make a major difference in your home. It’s known that carpet has the tendency to hold a lot of bacteria and dust. Plus, if anyone in your home experiences allergies, hardwood floors are much healthier as they don’t trap allergens like carpet does.

6. AC Filters

Make it a habit of changing your AC filters once a month. When the filters are free of dust and bacteria, it won’t circulate throughout the home. Plus, your AC unit has to work harder when the filters aren’t clean. Essentially, you’ll save money as a result of your efforts.

As you continue to work on these steps, you’ll find it a lot easier to maintain a clean home. Remain consistent and your hard work will pay off.¬† Use these techniques for air purification in the home and you will notice a difference.
